Appeal for historic photos of the Punchbowl

Popular nostalgic pub and award winning carvery, Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn is set to undergo some exciting changes in the coming weeks, and have launched an appeal to locals to help them trace some historic photos of this much loved Inn.

The Punch Bowl on Ludlow Road is purported to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest , licensed public house in the area – it was licensed back in 1740 and has since provided shelter, food  and drink to travellers from all over the UK. Before this it was a toll house with the original courthouse opposite – which is now a residential property – Proprietor Adam Giles adds “From the days the Punch Bowl was a Hundred house and a courthouse opposite the pub believed to be a holding area for criminals on trial by the Earl of the estate, as well as stables and now the modern pub that it is – we are keen to gather as much historic information as possible from locals – from photos taken in the 1800’s if any remain, through the 1900’s – We have one dating back to around 1960, but there must be earlier ones surviving. Even sketches and paintings of the pub – Our appeal is for photos and historic documents relating to both inside and outside the building, so we can feature them in our new bar area as part of our January refit and in preparation for the installation of our new AGA Carvery and launch at the end of January”

Recently Adam announced that The Punch Bowl Inn and owners Nostalgia Inns have become official AGA Approved Ambassadors granted by the Telford based firm who manufacture the much loved Iconic AGA’s which are the center points of many a family kitchens across the UK, and even the World – the Punch Bowl is set to be a show piece for AGA’s as the team at the Punch Bowl will be cooking and serving from their live carvery “We are so excited about this partnership with AGA Rangemaster” comments Adam “From the moment I dreamt up the concept over 10 years ago, I have been excited about it, and now it is to be reality, I cant wait until next year, it is going to completely transform our business and the way people think of AGA’s and how versatile they can be in the home”.  Adding “Customers will be amazed on what we will be able to cook on our AGA Total Control and our new AGA Nostalgia Classics menu will provide real comfort food to our regulars, for a truly Nostalgic experience”.

Adam launches AGA Carvery at the Emirates Stadium

A Shropshire publican has this week announced a unique partnership with a Telford based manufacturer of Iconic Cookers.

AGA cookers who have been manufacturing their iconic cookers in Shropshire since 1929 have become the ‘must have’ for many a domestic cook, and fashionistas, as well as more professional bakers and Chefs around the UK – and across the World.

Adam Giles of Ye Old Punch Bowl just outside Bridgnorth, was invited by industry newspaper the ‘Morning Advertiser’ to attend their ‘MA300’ of industry leaders, to attend their event held at the prestigious Emirates Stadium in London where Adam announced his partnership with Telford-based AGA, that means an innovative AGA Total Control cooker will take centre stage at his award winning carvery, allowing guests to experience their meals being cooked and served by the Punch Bowl Team.

“We’re so excited about this partnership with AGA,’ he adds. “I decided around 10 years ago that it would be a good idea to cook and serve our carvery food in front of our guests and now that dream is about to become a reality when we undergo an extensive refurbishment in January to install our AGA Total Control Cooker in the pub to serve our carveries from early February.’

“I believe it will transform our business and bring AGA cookers to a whole new audience. I am confident diners will love our nostalgic AGA Classics Menu and carvery specials, which will be made up of traditional dishes with a twist; proper comfort food, all from the AGA Total Control cooker.

“I was brought up with an AGA cooker at my family home in Worcestershire and it was always the focal point of our activities. I come from a family of pub owners and passionate cooks and we would spend hours in the kitchen, creating new dishes and tasting what we had made.”

David Simpson, AGA Commercial Business Development Manager added “We are very pleased to be working with Adam and Nostalgia Inns, and delighted that Adam has joined our AGA Home Ambassador Programme. All over the UK you will hear people say ‘My family loves our AGA’, so we are very excited to have an AGA as the centre piece of the live carvery in the award winning Punchbowl Inn”.

Adam and the AGA

A local pub has this week announced a unique partnership with a Telford based Worldwide manufacturer of Iconic Cookers.

AGA RANGEMaster who in recent years have undergone a renaissance with their iconic home cookers and heaters have become the ‘must have’ for many a domestic cook, and fashionista, as well as more professional bakers and Chefs such as bakers favourite Mary Berry, Jamie Oliver and Marco Pierre White, and even the likes of French Movie Star Gérard Depardieu who has two installed in his home kitchen – in Russia!

Recently Adam Giles, owner of Ye Old Punch Bowl Inn on the Ludlow Road, just outside Bridgnorth, Shropshire, announced that The Punch Bowl Inn owners Nostalgia Inns have become official AGA Approved Ambassadors granted by the Telford based firm – The Punch Bowl is set to be a show piece for AGA’s as the team at The Punch Bowl will be cooking and serving their award winning carvery from their live AGA.

“We are so excited about this partnership with AGA RANGEMaster” comments Adam “From the moment I dreamt up the concept over 10 years ago, I have been excited about it, and now it is to be reality in my own pub, I cant wait until next year, it is going to completely transform our business and the way people think of AGA’s and how versatile they can be in the home”.  Adding “Customers will be amazed on what we will be able to cook on our AGA Total Control and our new Nostalgia AGA Classics menu will provide real comfort food to our regulars, for a truly Nostalgic experience”.

Adam dreamt up the idea of ’Live cooking’ on an AGA in his pub over 10 years ago when he was shopping in Selfridges and saw all the concessions, and thought why not have one his own in his pub “I was brought up with an AGA at my family home in Hanbury, Worcestershire – it was always the center point of the family activities – coming from  a family of pub owners and passionate cooks, we would spend hours around it tasting gastronomic creations lifted carefully from its ovens, or dishes cooked on its top hobs – I remember the one we had was a battered old blue one, but we all loved it – so to have my own Vintage Cream five oven one being installed in January is really exciting – ours will be the new State of the art Total Control version so we can turn in on and off even by a text message, and means it will be very efficient on fuel consumption which means we can keep down our costs, and maintain our value menus – its going to be some impressive bit of kit”
