Popular nostalgic pub and award winning carvery, Ye Olde Punch Bowl Inn is set to undergo some exciting changes in the coming weeks, and have launched an appeal to locals to help them trace some historic photos of this much loved Inn.

The Punch Bowl on Ludlow Road is purported to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest , licensed public house in the area – it was licensed back in 1740 and has since provided shelter, food  and drink to travellers from all over the UK. Before this it was a toll house with the original courthouse opposite – which is now a residential property – Proprietor Adam Giles adds “From the days the Punch Bowl was a Hundred house and a courthouse opposite the pub believed to be a holding area for criminals on trial by the Earl of the estate, as well as stables and now the modern pub that it is – we are keen to gather as much historic information as possible from locals – from photos taken in the 1800’s if any remain, through the 1900’s – We have one dating back to around 1960, but there must be earlier ones surviving. Even sketches and paintings of the pub – Our appeal is for photos and historic documents relating to both inside and outside the building, so we can feature them in our new bar area as part of our January refit and in preparation for the installation of our new AGA Carvery and launch at the end of January”

Recently Adam announced that The Punch Bowl Inn and owners Nostalgia Inns have become official AGA Approved Ambassadors granted by the Telford based firm who manufacture the much loved Iconic AGA’s which are the center points of many a family kitchens across the UK, and even the World – the Punch Bowl is set to be a show piece for AGA’s as the team at the Punch Bowl will be cooking and serving from their live carvery “We are so excited about this partnership with AGA Rangemaster” comments Adam “From the moment I dreamt up the concept over 10 years ago, I have been excited about it, and now it is to be reality, I cant wait until next year, it is going to completely transform our business and the way people think of AGA’s and how versatile they can be in the home”.  Adding “Customers will be amazed on what we will be able to cook on our AGA Total Control and our new AGA Nostalgia Classics menu will provide real comfort food to our regulars, for a truly Nostalgic experience”.
